Biological Activity
[Description]:
Epoetin delta is a recombinant human erythropoietin. Epoetin delta could protect human renal tubular epithelial cells against oxidative stress by a dose-dependent inhibition of reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation. Epoetin delta can be used for the research of anaemia and kidney diseases. Epoetin Delta also exhibits antifibrotic activity in the remnant kidney rat model[1][2].
[Related Catalog]:
[In Vitro]
Epoetin delta (0-10 IU/mL; 6 h) significantly protects the cells against oxidative stress[1]. Cell Viability Assay[1] Cell Line: Human renal tubular epithelial cells [1] Concentration: 0, 0.1, 1 and 10 IU/mL Incubation Time: 6 h Result: Protected the cells against oxidative stress as indicated by a dose-dependent, attenuated ROS production.
[In Vivo]
Epoetin delta (0-300 IU/kg; IV or SC; once a week or 100 IU/kg, 3 times a week; for 8 weeks) can delay the progression of chronic renal failure (CRF) through antiapoptotic and antifibrotic mechanisms[2]. Animal Model: Wistar rats[2] Dosage: 0, 48, 100 and 300 IU/kg, once a week or 100 IU/kg, 3 times a week Administration: IV or SC; for 8 weeks Result: Attenuated dose-dependently the reduction in Hct/Hb; decreased profibrotic (TGF-beta) and proapoptotic (Bcl-2-associated X protein) genes together with a significant dose-dependent increase of antifibrotic (hepatocyte growth factor) and antiapoptotic (Bcl-2) genes.
