[In Vitro]

In addition to disrupting Bax/Bcl-2 and Bax/Bcl-XL, Bax BH3 peptide (55-74), wild type can promote cytochrome c release from isolated mitochondria. Bax BH3 belongs to the Bcl-2 protein family which consists of both pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic members. Bax BH3 acts to regulate apoptosis via governance of the 'intrinsic' pathway of cell death[1].
