【用途一】
用于制造生物碱及其他物质的试剂，也用于染料、钼红颜料、催化剂、钼盐和耐晒色淀沉淀剂。是制造阻燃剂的原料和无公害型冷却水系统的金属腐蚀抑制剂，以及作为动植物必须的微量成分。
【用途二】
用于制造生物碱、油墨、化肥、钼红颜料和耐晒颜料的沉淀剂、催化剂、钼盐，也可用于制造阻燃剂和无公害型冷水系统的金属抑制剂，还用作镀锌、磨光剂及化学试剂。

钼酸钠,二水合物制备

1.液碱萃取法钼精矿经氧化焙烧生成三氧化钼，再用液碱浸取，得到钼酸钠溶液，浸出液经抽滤、蒸发浓缩，浓缩液经冷却结晶、离心分离，在70～80℃温度下干燥，即得钼酸钠成品。 2.可用水进行重结晶。为得到更纯的产品，可加酸使之析出二水合三氧化钼MoO3·2H2O沉淀，将其充分洗涤、干燥以后，在700℃以上升华精制，并溶于氢氧化钠水溶液中。将溶液浓缩、冷却，经放置即可得二水合钼酸钠Na2MoO4·2H2O。 3. 将工业品钼酸钠经过重结晶后，溶解于水中，加入硝酸，沉淀出三氧化钼的二水合物：充分洗涤后干燥，再于700℃以上升华，得高纯三氧化钼，然后溶于氢氧化钠溶液，经浓缩，冷却结晶，甩干，在70～80℃下干燥，得到高纯度的二水合钼酸钠。普通试剂由工业品经重结晶提纯制取。
