由二甲胺与盐酸成盐而得。将盐酸缓缓滴入二甲胺中，30%的盐酸用量约为40%二甲胺的1.1倍，滴入速度以温度不超过15℃，pH=7-8为限。反应结束后，加活性炭脱色，过滤，滤液用盐酸调节至pH=3-4，减压蒸水至尽，得二甲胺盐酸盐。
