其制备方法是在反应釜中加入乙基苯和三氯乙醛，在0℃分批加入无水三氯化铝，加毕后在-10～0℃搅拌反应2h，然后加入稀盐酸至混合液中分解其剩余三氯化铝，再用碳酸氢钠和水洗涤，有机层蒸馏回收乙基苯，再蒸馏得对乙基苯-2，2，2-三氯乙醇，然后将此三氯乙醇溶于甲醇，再加入氢氧化钠溶液搅拌，在该混合液中，滴加30过氧化氢水溶液，搅拌至三氯乙醇消失，然后再盐酸酸化，得到结晶即产品。
