海泡石用途多达130多种，是世界用途最广的矿物原料之一。钻井工业用作深海钻井泥浆原料；酿造与化工工业的分子筛、制糖、酿酒、油脂吸附剂、脱色剂和净化剂；医药工业用作离子交换剂、净化剂、发酵剂；陶瓷工业作为玻璃珐琅和化工搪瓷的原料；环保用于颗粒去污剂，放射性废物和毒气的吸附剂；建筑用作隔声、隔热材料，涂料；国防现代科学主要用于原子能、火箭、卫星诸领域的特殊陶瓷部件。还用于铸造型砂黏合剂及耐火材料的特殊耐高温涂层等。

海泡石粉制备

1.对于沉积型矿床，绝大多数采用露天开采法；而对热液型矿床一般使用地下开采法。一般工艺流程见“磷块岩”。选矿方法有湿法和干法，而以湿法为主，其选矿工艺通常采用以物理方法为主，辅以利于分离的化学药剂的综合选矿工艺。

2.海泡石的选矿方法主要有干选、湿选等，大多采用湿法进行，原矿经手选、加分散剂搅拌、筛分、分级、加助滤剂混合压滤、滤饼经干燥、粉碎即可。
