Biological Activity

[Description]:

Isochondrodendrine ( Isochondrodendrin) is a class of bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid isolated from Isolona ghesquiereina. Isochondodendrine has strong antiplasmodial activity against Plasmodium falciparum[1].

[Target]

Plasmodium falciparum[1]

[In Vivo]

Isochondrodendrine has strong in vitro antiplasmodial activity against the chloroquine resistant strain FMC29 of Plasmodium falciparum. Toxicity observed is 50 to 100 fold greater towards Plasmodium falciparum than cultured L6 cells[1].
