Applications
Neodymium(III) oxide act as colorant agent of glass and ceramic. It also raw material for metal neodymium and high magnetic neodymium ferric boron material. When added to magnesium alloy and aluminum alloy, neodymium(III) oxide could enhance thermostability, gas-tightness and corrosion resistance, which are used in aerospace material. When nano neodymium(III) oxide add in nano yttria-alumina garnet, it emit shortwave laser beam, which is widely for welding and cutting thin type material of thickness under 10mm. In medical industry, YAG laser device doped neodymium oxide is substitute for surgical knifed, which used in excising operation or disinfecting wound. Nano neodymium(III) oxide is a kind of raw material for rubber and additive. High pure neodymium compounds is for single crystal growth mainly. Nd could compensate Fe 3+(yellow) to make glass colorless and extra bright.
Nd and Er could be for manufacturing of crystal glass. After mixing with other pigments as 95% rubidium carbonate, 95% neodymium, colors like neodymiumruby, alexandrite, azare, royalite would get. Adding 1-5% neodymium trioxide to glass or its crystal, it would turn out bright red color with elegant and reflecting-violet. In ceramic industry, it is main content for additive, which is for high-temperature porcelain glaze with red-violet color.
