In Vivo | Castor oil is a natural triglyceride which has a laxative effect and induces labor in pregnant females. When given castor oil, wild-type mice respond with a strong diarrhea, starting about 30 min after application. The laxative effect lasts for about 2 h[1]. |
Animal Admin | Mice are used to measure the laxative effects of Castor oil and starved 16 h before the experiments. On the day of the experiment, mice are treated with the Castor oil, and the bottom of the cages is covered with white tissue paper. The weight of shapeless and watery stools is determined hourly[1]. |

Effect of castor oil enrichment layer produced by reaction on the properties of PLA/HDI-g-starch blends.
Carbohydr. Polym. 94(1) , 235-43, (2013) Blends of entirely bio-sourced polymers, namely polylactide (PLA) and starch, have been melt-compounded by lab-scale co-extruder with castor oil (CO) as a plasticizer. The enrichment of castor oil on ... |

Elucidation of density profile of self-assembled sitosterol + oryzanol tubules with small-angle neutron scattering.
Faraday Discuss. 158 , 223-38; discussion 239-66, (2012) Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) experiments have been performed on self-assembled tubules of sitosterol and oryzanol in triglyceride oils to investigate details of their structure. Alternative o... |
