羟丙哌嗪的制备：苯胺和二乙醇胺缩合，反应处理后，得到苯基哌嗪。将苯基哌嗪、碳酸氢钠、95%乙醇和3-氯-1,2-丙二醇，搅拌回流，经处理得羟丙哌嗪。左旋羟丙哌嗪的制备：D-甘露糖醇和丙酮在二氯化锌作用，生成D-甘露醇-1,2,5,6-二缩酮。将二缩酮溶于甲醇，滴入高碘酸钠溶液，搅拌。加甲醇，调节PH，过滤，滤液加四氢硼钠还原，经处理得到(S)-1,2-异亚丙基甘油。将异亚丙基甘油和吡啶混合，加入对甲苯磺酰氯，搅拌。经处理得到甘油酯。将甘油酯和苯基哌嗪溶于苯，回流，过滤，沉淀用无水乙醇洗，滤液蒸干，用乙醚处理，过滤。固体用丙酮重结晶，得左旋羟丙哌嗪。
