可由丙烯酰胺与烯丙醇在浓酸及H₂O₂作用下反应而得，也可由乙酸烯丙酯与甲基丙烯酸甲酯进行酯交换而得。还可以甲基丙烯酸与烯丙醇反应，以对甲苯磺酸为催化剂，在阻聚剂对苯二酚存在下回流制得，反应过程中不断除去生成的水，反应完成后经分馏回收过量的烯丙醇，经减压蒸馏纯化产物。
