将200g不含硫酸的三氧化铬放入2L圆底烧瓶中,再加入100mL冰醋酸,安装上回流冷凝器,在水浴上小心加热并保持在沸点以下,即开始反应。若原料极纯,反应不易发生,可加入少量乙醇,以促使反应发生。反应开始时极为激烈,可适当冷却。当反应缓和时,可在沸水浴上回流2h。此时溶液呈褐色,主要是含Cr3(CH3COO)3+6的铬酸盐。由于溶液中仍残留三氧化铬,需除去。适当冷却,从回流冷凝器顶部依次缓慢地加入50%乙醇及96%乙醇(乙醇总量约100mL)后,再在水浴上加热1h,然后进行减压浓缩,得到Cr3(OH)(CH3COO)8·2H2O的绿色粉末。用少量水将其溶解,置于放有浓硫酸作干燥剂的真空保干器中蒸发,得到六水羟基醋酸铬(Ⅲ)。若在上述绿色粉末水溶液中加入丙酮,可得到四水合物。
