氢氟酸沉淀真空脱水法。先将氢氟酸加到硫酸钆溶液中,析出水合氟化钆,然后在真空中加热脱去结晶水。

氢氟酸浓度一般为40%~48%,它的消耗量是理论量的110%~120%。从水溶液中析出的氟化物沉淀体积大,吸附有不少的硫酸根离子,必须用水充分洗涤,水洗采用倾泻法。过滤后的沉淀物在100~150℃下干燥,以脱去吸附水。得到只含结晶水的氟化物。为避免脱水中发生高温水解,生成氟氧化物GdOF,脱水过程需在真空中加热进行。真空度要高于0133Pa,脱水温度不低于300℃。

另一种脱水方法就是将水合氟化钆放在干燥氟化氢气流中脱水,最终脱水温度为600~650℃。这种在氟化氢气氛保护下的脱水方式可以使水合氟化钆在脱水过程中进一步氟化,可保证产品的质量。由于氢氟酸沉淀是在水溶液中进行的,一般使用塑料容器,且脱水设备的材料须耐高温腐蚀,一般采用镍基合金或用纯镍做内衬材料。
