(NH4)2ThCl6=ThCl4+2NH4Cl

粉末状钍金属是很容易得到的,将其与六倍摩尔量的NH4Cl在一干燥箱中混合,然后装入Pyrex玻璃管中,再将管的颈部拉成毛细尖嘴。加热试管至300℃,反应大约30h以后,定量生成三元氯化物(NH4)2ThCl6,接着在真空[约1.3×10-1Pa(10-3Torr)]下350℃分解此化合物得到纯的几乎无色的细粉状ThCl4。

制法2 将草酸钍置于石英舟中,将石英舟放入玻璃反应管中,通入二氧化碳和四氯化碳的1∶1混合气(将四氯化碳放入支管蒸馏烧瓶中,在水浴中加热至57℃。开启二氧化碳钢瓶,鼓泡通过四氯化碳,经垂熔玻璃板滤出。混合气通过镍线圈加热至57℃以上,再导入玻璃反应管中。流速50~200cm3/min,四氯化碳的消耗量约为60g/h),同时加热至200℃,并保持该温度2h,然后升温至425℃加热4h,再升温至510℃保持1h,最后在610℃时保持1h,即制得氯化钍产品。收率为99.4%。
