NK-2 receptor[1] |
In Vitro | Neurokinin A (substance K) is a peptide neurotransmitter of the tachykinin family with potential as a major mediator in human airway and gastrointestinal tissues. Neurokinin A acts via the NK-2 receptor believed to be localized on smooth muscle cells and pharmacologically coupled to a GTP-binding protein. Neurokinin A is a member of a family of peptide neurotransmitters known as tachykinins. These peptides are associated with the central and peripheral nervous systems and display a wide tissue distribution. Tachykinins share the COOH-terminal structure Phe-X-Gly-Leu-Met-NH. The best known members of this family are Substance P and Neurokinin A or Substance K[1]. |

Neurogenic airway inflammation induced by repeated intra-esophageal instillation of HCl in guinea pigs.
Inflammation 36(2) , 493-500, (2013) This study was conducted to investigate if repeated intra-esophageal acid administrations may induce neurogenic inflammation in the airways and nodose ganglion in a guinea pig model. Guinea pigs were ... |

Role of tachykinins and neurokinin receptor subtypes in the regulation of motility of the forestomach and abomasum in conscious sheep.
Neuropeptides 47(1) , 9-18, (2013) The present study was planned to evaluate role of tachykinins (TKs) and neurokinin (NK) receptors in the regulation of gastric motility in sheep. We examined the effects of intravenous (i.v.) injectio... |

Neuromodulation mediated by the tachykinin NK3-receptor agonist [MePhe7]-neurokinin B in the isolated perfused lung of nonsensitized nonchallenged and ovalbumin-sensitized and -challenged guinea pig.
Exp. Lung Res. 38(5) , 233-49, (2012) The neuromodulatory action of the tachykinin NK(3)-receptor agonist [MePhe(7)]-neurokinin B ([MePhe(7)]-NKB) was evaluated on vagal stimulation-induced bronchoconstriction in nonsensitized nonchalleng... |
