用作折光率测定的液体，也用作溶剂
【用途二】
可用作涂料的溶剂，用于提取脂肪和蜡，代替松节油用于鞋油、地板蜡的制造，可与苯和乙醇配成混合物，作为内燃机的燃料。
【用途三】
有机物结晶用溶剂，用作油脂、树脂、橡胶等的溶剂和除漆剂，润滑剂。在微量分析中测定矿物的折射指数。测定硼。色谱分析对比物质。

工业上由萘在镍催化剂存在下进行催化加氢得到两种异构体的等量混合物。如果需要较纯的异构体，可将工业级十氢萘用浓硫酸洗至酸层无色。然后碱洗、水洗，分去水层，用干燥剂干燥。减压精馏，在130块理论塔板的塔中，回流比接近145：1，可得纯度达99.93%（重量）的顺式异构体；在200块理论塔板的塔中，回流比为160：1，可得纯度达99.97%的反式异构体。
