Use of atracurium besylateAtracurium Besylate is a neuromuscular blocking agent with ED95 of 0.2 mg/kg. Target: nAChRAtracurium besylate is a neuromuscular-blocking drug or skeletal muscle relaxant in the category of non-depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking drugs, used adjunctively in anesthesia to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. Atracurium is classified as an intermediate-duration non-depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking agent [1]. A 14C radiolabeled metabolism study in cats confirmed the lack of hepatic or renal involvement in the metabolism of atracurium: radioactivity eliminated in bile and urine was predominantly from metabolites rather than the unchanged parent drug [2]. |

How Does High-Concentration Supplemental Perioperative Oxygen Influence Surgical Outcomes after Thyroid Surgery? A Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blind, Controlled, Monocentric Trial
J. Am. Coll. Surg. 220(5) , 921-33, (2015) Background Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy (RLNP) and hypoparathyroidism are complications of thyroid surgery. The convalescence can depend on several factors (ie, pain, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting)... |

Intravenous lidocaine decreases tumor necrosis factor alpha expression both locally and systemically in pigs undergoing lung resection surgery.
Anesth. Analg. 119(4) , 815-28, (2014) Lung resection surgery is associated with an inflammatory reaction. The use of 1-lung ventilation (OLV) seems to increase the likelihood of this reaction. Different prophylactic and therapeutic measur... |

Dexmedetomidine reduces propofol and remifentanil requirements during bispectral index-guided closed-loop anesthesia: a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Anesth. Analg. 118(5) , 946-55, (2014) The α2-adrenergic agonist dexmedetomidine is a sedative and can be used as an adjunct to anesthetics. Our primary goal was thus to determine the extent to which dexmedetomidine reduces the requirement... |
