phomalacton 5,6-dihydro-5-hydroxy-6-prop-2-enyl-2H-pyran-2-one [5S,6S,(+)]-5,6-Dihydro-5-hydroxy-6-[(E)-1-propenyl]-2H-pyran-2-one (+)-phomalactone |
Description | Phomalactone, produced by the fungus Nigrospora sphaerica, specifically inhibits the mycelial growth of Phytophthora infestans, with an MIC value of 2.5 mg/L[1]. Phomalactone is phytotoxic to Z. elegans and other plant species by inhibition of seedling growth and by causing electrolyte leakage from photosynthetic tissues of both Z. elegans leaves and cucumber cotyledons[2]. |
