In Vitro | Omaciclovir is a nucleoside analog with in vitro inhibitory activity against varicella-zoster virus (VZV), herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and -2), Epstein-Barr virus, and human herpesvirus 6. Omaciclovir is also efficacious in simian varicella virus-infected monkeys[1]. Omaciclovir shows antiviral activities against different human herpesviruses with EC50s of 0.72 ± 0.1, 0.62 ± 0.2, 0.015 ± 0.004, 0.048 ± 0.023, 0.047 ± 0.004, 0.035 ± 0.022, and 0.016 ± 0.003 μM for MRC-5 VZV-32, MRC-5 Molly, MeWo VZV-32, MeWo Molly, MeWo Emily, MeWo VZ11, and MeWo VZ30, respectively[1]. |
