Referred to as feed additive. A class of microchemicals added to prevent disease, promote growth, and improve feed utilization and quality during feed processing, storage, blending, or feeding. There are mainly growth promoting drugs and disease prevention and health care drugs, as well as feed preservatives (anti-mold drugs) and colorants. Compound feeds containing such additives are called medicated feeds and are different from compound feeds containing nutritional supplements (vitamins, amino acids, etc.). The former has problems such as the drug withdrawal period and the allowable residue amount for the production of food animals. According to the regulations, the drug must be made into a premix and should not be directly used in the feed.
